The Banda Sea encompasses a vast area containing many islands with exceptional diving, including Ambon, Nusa Laut, the Banda Islands, Nil Desperandum and Manuk. Ambon is renowned for its world class critter diving but also offers great reef, wreck and cave dives. The Banda Islands are rich in history, as the world’s original source of Nutmeg these islands were fiercely fought over and the old Dutch forts of Belgica and Nassau stand testament to this past. Nusa Laut and Nil Desperandum are famed for Hammerhead encounters and Manuk is home to hundreds of Sea Snakes. Many liveaboard trips to the Banda Sea start in Ambon and travel either south-west to Maumere on Flores Island or east to Triton Bay in Papua. Triton Bay offers a species diversity that rivals that of Raja Ampat!
